If all active monarchs lose their crowns, you lose the game.Ĭoins are the primary currency of the game, and are required to hire subjects, build defenses, and progress in general. The monarch that still has a crown will then have the option to craft their partner a new crown by paying them 8 coins. A crown-less monarch may still pick up and drop coins as normal, but will be unable to purchase anything. If it falls into the ocean or is successfully stolen by an enemy, you will have lost that crown. If you get hit when you have no coins, your crown will get knocked off of your head. Be warned, you have no invulnerability period after being hit. If your monarch is hit by an enemy, you will lose a number of coins proportional to the attack. The longer you survive, the harder it gets. The game runs on a day and night cycle, where you build and expand during the day, and defend the onslaught of enemies at night. If held down while walking, you start running. The next update has arrived! The game now has a new biome: Dead Lands, featuring tons of new content to explore! Winter update is here! I will be working to update the guide accordingly, so now is a great time to post any new information that should be included! Here are the update notes: While grammar isn’t absolutely necessary, please try to word your comments in a way that is understandable, so that the information is not misinterpreted. Then, leave a comment of your findings down in the comments section below, and the information will be reviewed and added to the guide. Run tests, crunch numbers, or do whatever you prefer to gather information. Then, as you play the game, try to look into anything you come across that is not already in the guide. We’re back! If you would like to contribute to the creation of this guide, please read the entire guide first. If you find this guide extra helpful, please also consider giving it an award! These take many hours of work to put together, so I hope you can spare 3 seconds to give it a rating, because it really helps.

One day, a bright young man came up to the tree. The magical Christmas tree had reunited her with her lost son.īut not everyone was honest with the magical Christmas tree. When she returned home, she was amazed to find her son sitting in the living room. As she did, she felt a glimmer of hope in her heart. The lady did as she was told, and hung the picture on one of the branches. “It’s this picture of my son,” the lady said, tears in her eyes. “What is your most precious possession, dear?” the tree asked the lady. She was holding a picture of her lost son, who had been missing for many years. The magical Christmas tree had rewarded her for sharing her precious belonging.Īnother day, an older lady came up to the tree. When she returned home, she was amazed to find her house surrounded by toys. As she did, she felt a warm glow in her heart. The girl did as she was told, and hung the toy on one of the branches. “Put it up as decoration,” the tree said. So she took out her toy and said, “It’s this little toy of an elf. It was bare and undecorated, and she felt sorry for it. The girl hesitated, but then she looked at the tree. “What is your most precious possession, dear?” the tree asked the girl. She was carrying a small toy of an elf that she had made herself. One day, a poor little girl came up to the tree. In return, the tree would give them something special in return. But what made this tree special was the fact that it was a magical Christmas tree.Įvery year, the magical Christmas tree would ask the children of the forest to share their most precious belonging. It was a tall, majestic tree, with branches that reached up to the sky. In the midst of all this, there was one tree that stood out. The snow was falling gently, covering the ground in a soft, white blanket. The animals were bustling about, preparing for the big day. As Christmas approached, the forest was alive with excitement. Each scene was completely detailed, perfectly lit, and told the story of the Winchester Mystery House while bringing in the true icons of Halloween, such as Jack-o-Lanterns, scarecrows, and ghosts. Overall, we really loved this attraction. But don’t linger too long, because there are Native American spirits lurking just around the corner!įinally, there’s a bloody hay maze to go through with some more scarecrows looming high over you. We found ourselves completely stopped to just watch what was happening. There are some pretty awesome effects in this room. The climax of the maze is the seance scene with Sarah Winchester herself, dressed in black and calling the spirits. In fact, the actors in the parking lot scene should be especially commended for their perfectly timed scares. Two of our favorite scares include an actor who seemed to lunge right out of the ground and another who completely surprised us in the parking lot scene. The maze was stocked full of actors, and at times, the scares seemed relentless. There are a lot of “team” scares, where one actor will distract you while the other actor comes up right behind you. Although it was only opening weekend, they were fully in character, and the scares were very well timed. The scent of cooked flesh greats you in some scenes. Throughout the attraction, we were very impressed by how good the scareactors were. The maze winds between indoor and outdoor sets, for example, through the pump house and then back outside into the gardens. The lighting throughout the maze was great and really set an eerie and haunting tone. Towering scarecrows with Jack-O-Lantern heads loom above to create an impressive scene. Given the tight coherence of the rest of the maze with the legend of the Winchester house, this was the one scene that didn’t seem to fit.Īfter leaving the children, you enter the estate grounds where men in old-time Western wear wield the Winchester rifle in your face. This scene is spooky and has some great lighting, but we weren’t entirely sure who these children were supposed to be. The first real scene is a sort of creepy playground with some scary child props and a creepy scareactor asking for her mommy. This is actually part of the line, but it sets the tone and spirit for the attraction immediately. Ambient lighting in the windows of the house and rows of Jack-o-Lanterns really pull in the Halloween theme right away. The attraction begins in front of the house, where you encounter the caretaker lurking about the porch. The house itself has an interesting history and many ghost stories that go along with it, so WMH had a great pre-existing story on which to build their haunted attraction. The haunt tells the story of Sarah Winchester and the house she built to keep the spirits of those killed by her husband’s Winchester rifles at bay. The “Curse of Sarah Winchester” maze is located on the grounds and in the outbuildings of the famous Winchester Mystery House (WMH) estate in San Jose, California. Their haunted attraction has captured the elusive magic of Halloween in a nearly perfect way. But with all of these possible themes, the iconography and spirit of Halloween itself can sometimes be lost in a maze of cannibal butchers and killer clowns.īut not at Fright Nights at the Winchester Mystery House. And some even combine multiple themes into a single haunt (have you ever walked through a haunt and progressed from vampire lair, to alien autopsy, to slaughterhouse? Because we certainly have). There are standard themes (vampires, horror movies, hillbilly cannibals) that can be adopted, or more original ones to be invented. Haunts have to decide what theme, or story, their maze/walk-through/haunted house is going to tell that will make guests want to visit their haunt rather than the one in the next town over. Each year, new haunts pop up around the country, and as they search for their position in the increasingly crowded haunted attraction market, they have to distinguish themselves from other haunts in some way. |
